Art Olivier’s Rally Speech for Border Agents Ramos and Compean

Art Olivier (Libertarian) is the former Mayor of Bellflower, CA. He ran for Governor in ‘06 against the leftist fool Arnold Schwarzenegger. Unfortunately Art didn’t have millions of dollars to campaign with so no one knew who he was and now were stuck with a gurly man who is pandering to Mexicans.

Tancredo Presidential Bid Could Put Immigration In The Spotlight

There are many pissed off voters out there who feel our country is going down the tubes because of the illegal immigration mess we are in. Because of that pissed off factor, a candidate who makes Illegal Immigration his number one issue could garner a large number of unsatisfied voters from most all spectrum’s of the electorate. I’m a moderate Democrat who is pro choice. I’d vote for Tancredo because I’m so pissed off and feel illegal immigration is that important of an issue. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Tancredo is running not to win but is running for third.

“Tancredo often talks about running for president as a way to publicize his hard-line views on the immigration issue. If he decides to announce, Espinosa [Tancredo’s spokesman]said, it’s for that cause and not because he thinks he can win the election.

“Any bid that Tom would put up, it would be fighting for third place,” Espinosa said. “Third place would be a huge victory for Tom Tancredo.”

Although that may sound disappointing, he is being a realist and a smart man. He will not be politically correct. He will ruff the feathers of the Amnesty advocates and make noise where there would not be any without him in the mix. It’s all about being real and keeping illegal immigration in the headlines where the politically correct don’t want it to be. Tancredo is now a national figure. He can do that and piss a whole bunch of people off along the way. Yeehaa!! GuardDog

Can Tancredo Make Immigration A Litmus Test For GOP?
January 16, 2007

On Tuesday morning, January 16, Tom Tancredo announced he is setting up an exploratory committee to seek the GOP nomination for the president. [Tancredo Forms Presidential Exploratory Committee, By Marie Horrigan, New York Times, January 16, 2007]

This makes him the first presidential candidate since Pat Buchanan to place immigration at the center of his campaign. Tancredo?s campaign may be even more important to the immigration reform movement?Buchanan always preferred to talk about trade, whereas Tancredo is making it clear that he is running a one issue campaign. And immigration, particularly illegal immigration, is more of a hot button issue now than it was in the 1990s. VDARE.COM does not endorse candidates for elected office. But we can take a look at their prospects and how they would affect patriotic immigration reform.

If done properly, a Tancredo run could shock the Establishment candidates and force the immigration issue to the front of the primaries. David Yepsen, one of the top election analysts, noted this morning that Tancredo “has the potential to pull the Republican field of candidates to the right?on his signature issue of curbing illegal immigration.” [Immigration critic could pull caucus field to right], Des Moines Register, January 16, 2007] Of the three announced establishment candidates, Rudy Giuliani, and Rudy Giuliani and John McCain are solidly in the open borders camp, while Mitt Romney has a mixed record. A candidate who can push an anti-amnesty and anti-guest worker agenda could get a sizable vote.

However, while the major candidates do not have a good deal of credibility on immigration, Tancredo is not the only congressman seeking the Presidency who has a good reputation on immigration reform.

* Ron Paul of Texas: Paul has received notoriety for his maverick stances against foreign intervention, the U.N., the income tax, the Federal Reserve, and pretty much anything the government has done in the last 150 years. Although he is a libertarian, Paul has a solid though imperfect record on immigration, but he is not strongly identified with the issue.

* Duncan Hunter of California: Hunter is the ranking Republican in the House Armed Services Committee. Hunter has been making it clear to many Republican donors and insiders that he plans on making protectionism and immigration control a centerpiece of his campaign. He has managed to amass a good immigration voting record while still being on good terms with the Republican establishment. He has done that in large part by being Bush?s point man on Iraq?and now possibly Iran?and also by not making much noise, when it came to the point, over his opposition to the Bush immigration plan.

Neither of these men will make as big an impact as Tancredo, but they will certainly cut into his support. Ron Paul has a very loyal following among libertarians and constitutionalists, but it is hard to see him appeal to anyone beyond that fringe. Nonetheless, much of that fringe would otherwise donate and volunteer for Tancredo. Conversely, Hunter has no grassroots following, but he has already managed to snag up a number of the major protectionist and restrictionist donors and party officials in what is left of the hard right in the GOP……

There are approximately 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders in the United States. This staggering statistic, rarely mentioned by the media, was revealed in a study by Deborah Schurman-Kauflin of the Violent Crimes Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. “It is clear,” she says, “that the U.S. public faces a dangerous threat from sex predators who cross the U.S. borders illegally.” What’s more, she adds, “Then they gradually commit worse crimes and are continually released back into society or deported. Those who were deported simply returned illegally again.”

If ever there was an argument for building a border fence, this is it. But other than two stories on WorldNetDaily, generated by an appearance on CNN, we haven’t found any coverage of these extraordinary statistics.

Yet, as reported by Wes Vernon in a new AIM Report, the Bush Administration is embarked on a controversial and secretive plan to effectively erase U.S. borders and establish a North American Union to facilitate the flow of people and goods from Mexico into the U.S.

The study investigated 1,500 cases of “serial rapes, serial murders, sexual homicides, and child molestations committed by illegal immigrants” between January, 1999 and April, 2006. Of the 1,500 cases examined, illegal immigrant offenders were located in 36 states with the highest number of sexual offenders in California, Texas, Arizona, New Jersey, New York, and Florida.

Schurman-Kauflin reports that according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) records, sex offenders comprise two percent of illegals apprehended. Using the statistics by ICE and the conservative estimate of 12 million illegal immigrants in this country, Schurman-Kauflin estimates there are approximately 240,000 illegal immigrant sex offenders currently residing in the United States. Also using the two-percent figure, this means that 93 sex offenders and 12 serial sex offenders are illegally crossing the border into the U.S. every day……

Hispanic Evangelicals And Immigration

Hispanic Evangelicals and Immigration
The Conservative Voice
Janurary 16, 2007

More and more Hispanics in the U.S. are converting to Evangelical Protestantism. Ron Unz has interpreted the growth of Protestant Evangelicalism among Hispanics as a sign they are assimilating. In his article ?California and the End of White America? (Commentary, November 1999) , Unz presented an upbeat picture of Hispanic assimilation: ?Latin American immigrants have demonstrated much the same social conservatism and working-class values as Italians or Slavs. (One remarkable sign of their assimilationism is the high rate of conversion to evangelical Protestantism among Latin American immigrants.)? That sounds great, but there are several problems with Unz? thesis that Hispanic Evangelicalism = American Assimilation.

In the first place, Evangelical Protestantism is now firmly rooted in Latin America, and growing. (And in Latin America, most Protestants are Evangelical Protestants). In Mexico, 7% of the population is Protestant, and in some Latin American countries it?s even higher.

I attend a Protestant church in Mexico. I can assure you that the people in my congregation are Protestants, but they are Mexican Protestants, not American Protestants.

And Protestantism does not necessarily go hand in hand with pro-Americanism. The most anti-American Mexican I?ve ever personally met personally was a Protestant (not from my congregation, I hasten to add).

Furthermore, in Latin America, Protestants, though conservative on moral issues, tend to be more liberal on economic issues.
In the United States, there are also many Hispanic Evangelicals, and the movement is growing. Does that mean they are assimilating?

Sometimes, but not necessarily. Remember the big pro-illegal marches last spring ? Well, some of those marchers were Evangelicals. Obviously, they don?t agree with those of us who want immigration reduced and our borders controlled.

Indeed, some Evangelical Hispanic pastors are quite outspoken on the matter. For example, Alejandro Camacho is a Baptist pastor in Texas who provides legal help to illegal aliens. Camacho complains that ?It is just ridiculous how the laws have separated our families and our congregations?. . “Immigration [law] as it is, it destroys, it destroys. It’s very inhuman.” Probably the most high-profile Evangelical Hispanic activist working this issue is Samuel Rodriguez, founder and leader of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) who states bluntly that ?Immigration puts us at odds with our white evangelical brothers? Rodriguez, despite the fact that he is of Puerto Rican extraction and thus unaffected by immigration law, sees this as a pan-Hispanic issue. And he?s ready to play hardball……

Success! Illegal Alien Cop-Killer in US Custody

Success! Illegal Alien Cop-Killer in US Custody
American Chronical
Janurary 16, 2007

An illegal alien cop-killer, who escaped capture by returning to Mexico and evading capture for almost four years, is now in US law enforcement custody. This killing ignited outrage across the United States.

In the pre-dawn hours Thursday morning, US deputy marshals and agents of Mexico?s Agencia Federal de Investigationes (AFI) delivered fugitive murderer Jorge Arroyo-Garcia to the Orange County California jail in Santa Ana.

Garcia is a vicious fugitive wanted for the murder of Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff David March four years ago. Garcia was flown from Mexico City to Tijuana late Wednesday night, where the Marshals and AFI agents turned him over to Los Angeles County Sheriff?s Department Investigators.

A convoy of Sheriff?s Deputies, California Highway Patrol Officers, and Deputy Marshals accompanied the fugitive to jail. Arroyo-Garcia, also known as Armando ?Chato? Garcia, has been in a Mexican prison awaiting extradition since last February.

He was arrested in Tonala, Jalisco, Mexico. AFI agents located Garcia thanks to information provided by the Los Angeles County District Attorney?s Office, the Marshals? Los Angeles Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Mexico City Field Office of the US Marshals Service.

The case gained national attention because of the heinous nature of the murder, and the fact that Arroyo-Garcia?s flight to Mexico was profiled several times on television?s ?America?s Most Wanted.? The case also was featured on numerous local and national news programs, including “The O’Reilly Factor” and “Hannity & Colmes.”

During the course of attempting extradition, US law enforcement was stonewalled since Mexico’s government refused to extradite anyone who faces the death penalty. However, some conservative lawmakers in Washington, DC threatened to pass legislation in 2006 that would have cut-off financial aid to Mexico.

?With today?s extradition of Arroyo-Garcia, an accused killed is one step closer to justice. We also hope his return brings a bit of peace to Deputy March?s family and colleagues,? said US Marshals Service Director John F. Clark.

?This example of international cooperation shows that no fugitive is safe beyond a border and we will continue to relentlessly pursue those who run from the law,? he said diplomatically.

2 Smugglers Found Dead at Border

Tuscon Citizen

Six men smuggling drugs over the Mexican border were accounted for by late Monday afternoon, but not all of them were alive, Santa Cruz County Sheriff Antonio Estrada said.

The bodies of two were found by the U.S. Border Patrol near the border, he said.

One of the men had been killed by a gunshot, the other by head trauma, Estrada said.

“He (the head trauma victim) could have been running and fell down the ravine and struck his head possibly trying to escape his assailants,” Estrada said.

He said three people in camouflage toting assault rifles accosted the six men, vying for their backpacks full of marijuana.
Deputies said the incident began shortly before 10 a.m. Monday when a woman who lives just south of Tubac and about 20 miles north of the Mexican border, called to say four men had showed up on her doorstep, seeking help.

After admitting to backpacking pot into Arizona and being attacked by the border bandits, two of the men were airlifted to a Tucson hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds, and the other two were taken into Border Patrol custody, Estrada said.

That left two missing in the desert, and a search by deputies, members of the Santa Cruz County Metro Task Force, a multiagency anti-drug and anti-gang task force, and U.S. Border Patrol agents began.

No names have been released, and the two uninjured men will remain in custody, pending an investigation, said Border Patrol agent Jesus Rodriguez.

In the past month, Estrada said, the rugged area leading from the border to Tubac increasingly has been the scene of shootings, robberies and the smuggling of drugs and people.

“It’s getting to be more and more dangerous,” he said.

TX Bill Would Allow State to Run Prison in Mexico

Weatherford Democrat

State Senator Craig Estes (R-Wichita Falls) filed legislation authorizing the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to operate a prison facility in Mexico Wednesday.

The prison would be for housing Mexican nationals convicted of non-violent crimes in Texas, according to a recent news release.

Estes called the number of illegal residents who commit state crimes while in Texas ?an unfortunate fact of immigration.? He said a Mexican prison facility would help with rehabilitation and reduce repeat offenders.

EU Hints at Opening Up Legal Immigration

RXPG news

The European Union has signalled it will open up ways for legal immigration into the bloc for the first time, but stressed that foreigners will only be given temporary access to help combat labour shortages in Europe.

In the fight against illegal immigration, the EU ‘must also offer legal access to its labour markets’, German Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble said after informal talks with his counterparts and the bloc’s justice ministers here.

Germany currently runs the rotating EU presidency.

However, the focus will be on giving foreigners temporary migration opportunities to meet specific EU labour market needs, Schaeuble said.

Ministers also said that protecting the bloc’s external borders and combating illegal immigration would remain the EU’s top priority.

About half a million illegal immigrants enter the EU each year. Spain and other southern member states have repeatedly complained that the bloc lets them down in tackling the immigration crisis.

Nearly 30,000 undocumented immigrants from Africa have landed on Spain’s Canary Islands last year, more than four times as many as during all of 2005. Italy and Malta have also seen massive arrivals of illegal immigrants on their coasts.

Russia Starts Tough New Migration Rules

Washington Post

MOSCOW — Russia launched a crackdown on millions of illegal workers as tough new migration rules came into effect Monday amid a rising tide of anti-immigrant sentiment.

But with Russia’s population plummeting, there is concern the country could face serious shortages of low-wage laborers.

“They don’t like the color of our skin here,” said a 26-year-old Azerbaijani produce seller at a Moscow food market who gave his name as Alek. He predicted that he and many of his fellow migrants would have to leave Russia.

Under the new rules, which set a quota of 6 million foreign workers for 2007, authorities are carrying out strict checks of the estimated 10 million to 12 million foreigners who are already working in Russia, most of them illegally.

Russia’s Exploding Muslim Population

Foreign Policy

If population trends continue at the current rate, Muslims could outnumber ethnic Russians in 30 years, al-Jazeera reports. More Russians are dying each year than being born, due in large measure to the popularity of abortion (Russian women had almost 13 abortions for every 10 live births in 2003), alcohol, and suicide.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Muslim population has grown by 40 percent since 1989, the result of a high birth rate and continued immigration from the North Caucasus and Central Asia. There are now 25 million Muslims in Russia, and they are projected to become one-fifth of the country?s overall population by 2020. Predictably, the usual suspects are speaking up:

“Many ethnic Russians are terrified at the prospect of becoming a minority in their own country. Alexander Belov, from the Movement Against Illegal Immigration, said: “History is a fight between races and religions. “It’s the law of nature … people are used to being with people like themselves, speaking the language their mothers taught them.?

Iraqi Refugees Find Sanctuary In Sweden

NY Times

SODERTALJE, Sweden ? Former residents of Baghdad living in this calm Swedish town know why they left. ?Iraq is finished,? said Taghreed Ewas, 34, a chemical engineer who fled last year after she received several death threats and narrowly escaped a kidnapping.

As they flee the mayhem of their homeland, Iraqis have swarmed into neighboring countries in the Middle East by the hundreds of thousands. But they are also increasingly coming to Europe, especially Sweden, one indication of how the war in Iraq is now beginning to have serious consequences for countries far beyond its borders.

Last year, 8,951 Iraqis applied for asylum in Sweden, up from 2,330 in 2005. Of those, almost 3,000 arrived in November and December. Those choosing this relatively small country of nine million people represent nearly half of the Iraqi refugees arriving in Europe and surpass by far the number admitted to the United States each year.

Choice of Martinez Sparks GOP Rebellion

Washington Times

“I have a hard time understanding the logic,” said RNC member Randy Pullen, who is running for Arizona Republican Party chairman in an election at the end of this month. “Just because the RNC did something wrong once before, somehow that justifies doing it again?”

Mr. Pullen pointed out that Mr. Martinez, who served as Mr. Bush’s secretary of Housing and Urban Development before winning a Senate seat, is not an RNC member. RNC rebels say the rules are clear that the person who heads the committee must be a member of the committee.

“Outsourcing our leadership at this critical time is not an option,” Mr. Haugland said.

Organizers of the rebellion against the White House domination of the RNC — as well as other members who haven’t decided yet to join the planned public showdown at the RNC’s annual three-day winter meeting — say even before Mr. Martinez became an issue, they expected difficulty in fundraising by the national committee for the 2008 election cycle.

“Martinez aside, the simple fact that the GOP no longer is in the majority in Congress is going to make it more difficult to raise money,” said Louisiana RNC member Ross Little.

National committeemen willing to buck the White House on the RNC chairmanship also cite as fundraising obstacles the president’s unpopularity, the conduct of the Iraq war, as well as disillusionment caused by the scandals, big spending and ineptitude of Republican leadership in Washington.

The rebels say that electing Mr. Martinez as head of the RNC would make raising money even more difficult because of resentment by the party’s rank-and-file small donors over Mr. Martinez’s co-sponsorship of legislation to allow millions of illegal aliens to become citizens.

“Martinez’s support of [Arizona Sen. John] McCain’s immigration bill on amnesty for illegal aliens is causing a lot of concern among our base,” said Mr. Pullen. “I happen to know that people — our $25 and $35 donors — are writing on the back of our RNC solicitations for donations: ‘When you close the border to illegal aliens, we’ll open our checkbooks.’ ”

Tuition-Paying Mexican Kids Could Attend Sasabe School

The Sasabe, Arizona school board is considering opening a school that accepts Mexican students who pay tuition.

The $1.5 million San Fernando Elementary School will have space for 57 students when it’s completed this March.

With only 18 students currently enrolled, the school board says it would have space for students who want to cross over from Mexico and pay tuition to learn at their school.

But there’s just one problem according to a citizenship and immigration spokeswoman.

She says because San Fernando will be a public school, it won’t be eligible to accept foreign students.

She says attendance would be limited to children living in Mexico who are U-S citizens or legal permanent residents.
