Teamsters are launching a nationwide campaign to fire U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters for what they say is her “unlawful decision” to keep the American border open to Mexican trucks.

As WND reported, the Bush administration has decided to ignore a provision passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush as part of the 2008 omnibus spending bill that was intended to remove funding from the 2008 DOT appropriations bill for the Mexican truck demonstration project.

“It’s a disgrace that Mary Peters is still in office,” said Teamsters General President James Hoffa in a news release today. “She has broken the law and defied the will of the American people by exposing them to dangerous trucks from Mexico.”

The Teamsters have created, a website complete with downloadable “Fire Mary Peters” windshield signs, recommended actions and an e-mail component urging citizens to ask their elected representatives to find Mary Peters in contempt of Congress.

    Should have already been fired.
One question though is why Teansters are using the most anti American court?
Seems to me the best place to file would be Washington DC. if they wanted a fair hearing. Could it be they want to lose this case just putting on a show for union members?

Now does anyone really believe that john mccain got as many delegates they say he did? Voting and laws mean nothing when there are corrupt leaders in office. The will of the American people means nothing compared to what our leaders have in store for us. We live in a communist dictator country now and this defiance here is a clear indicator of that. Voting and opinion of the American citizen is only a mere technicality, why do you think bush and the elitist are importing new citizens from third world countries? Because they believe in and need what our government tells them where as we do not any more.

This is disgusting and a clear violation of the Constitution, due process and representation. Yet we all continue to work 4 months out of every year for free in order to fund this fiasco.

Yea. She should have been fired a long time ago. I just signed the petitician. And it is unreal that our taxes are going to all this crap—especially since our politicians are clearly NOT representing us! It is we who are “In the Shadows.”

What is this union’s position on illegal aliens, border security, amnesty, immigration generally, etc?

The Teamsters can’t have it both ways. Seems to me that I read an article that they were standing behind the illegals that were being rounded up in meat packing plants, because those people were paying union dues to the teamsters. If they want all of us to stand behind them with the trucking industry, then they need to have the same mindset pertaining to illegals taking other peoples jobs in all professions. Right?

I think the unions are afraid that the illegal Mexicans will start their own unions if they are permitted amnesty - therefore, they want to try and appease both sides of the issues. One one hand, they like the money. On the other hand, they don’t want to loose control.

  7. BEADALONG says:

I have to agree on that union issue. They can’t have it both ways. I stopped any support of them when they were supporting illegal aliens. I would have thought at one time that they would have been considered “Scab Labor.”

Also, it would be ironic if Mary Peters should an encounter with one of these truck drivers or illegal alien drivers on the road, but what the hey? Since she doesn’t care about us, why should she be exempt?
