PARKVILLE, Md. - A construction worker from Parkville is charged with threatening to strangle Governor Martin O’Malley.

In a WJZ Exclusive, Kathryn Brown reports, the man is being confined to house arrest.

Walter Abbott says he’s been losing work to illegal immigrants for years, and he says he only sent the threatening email to O’Malley to get him to pay attention, not because he actually intended to kill him.

The email is pretty clear. Charging documents show Walter stated he was “going to kill the governor by strangulation” because he was “upset with” the governor’s “views on immigration”.

“He would absolutely not hurt nobody, please! He was just lashing out,’ said Walter’s wife Linda Abbott.

Linda paints her husband of 24 years as a dedicated construction worker struggling to provide for his family.

“He’s a hardworking man. He just wants to support his family, that’s all this is about. He just wants to work,” said Linda.

Walter sent the email to the governor’s official website on Tuesday.

In it he expressed anger over O’Malley’s immigration policies and threatened to strangle the governor.

He also included his name, address, and phone number.

Police arrested him at his Parkville home less than five hours later.

“There’s lots of Marylanders that are having the same problem, and he just happened to hit submit,” said Linda.

In Walter’s community, he’s well-known among neighbors for a large sign that’s been in his front yard for nearly a year. It’s facing backwards now, but people are familiar with the message.

“Something about deport the aliens, impeach Bush,” said neighbor Charlie Vogel.

“It’s about illegal immigrants, and they should put Bush out of office,” said neighbor Carol Eichelberger.

Neighbors like Eichelberger aren’t neccessarily surprised to hear that Walter may have taken his views a step farther.

“Considering him putting the nerve to put the sign up, I wouldn’t put it past him. I think he’s a little goofy,” said Eichelberger.

“I mean I don’t happen to be an O’Malley fan, but I don’t think you should threaten to kill the president, the governor or anybody else,” said Vogel.

Abbott is confined to his home in Baltimore County until his trial date.

State police say they view this and any threat against the governor as substantial and take them all very seriously.

Oh PLEASE… They are quite aware of what a real threat is and who is capable of backing a threat like that. They are using this guy as an example and it’s a sure sign of a Governor who is losing control of the people he governs. This kind of tactic will backfire and just create more people who are sick and tired of being screwed by him. I don’t know why anyone would want to continue to live in Maryland with the attitude that governor has toward its citizens.

who will they be arresting in the may protest. i am sure there will be plenty of threats etc. from the invaders. i bet if one scratches the surface of this gov.’s doings one will find nothing but filth.

this poor guy. he can’t even have the sign facing forward on his own property. his dumbass neighbors won’t even speak up for him. this is america, makes ya real proud ,don’t it?

    hey Eddie B.

    that ain’t you is it?

Nope. But obviously this guy wan not one of the “Amigos De O’Malley”. Fer sure.

I just read where O’Malley want to implement the toughest Carbon Cap (Tax) in the nation. It is up for vote right now in Annapolis.

There is a little bit of resistance because they are worried that this will create higher heating bills for the tax paying citizens…. I wonder how long the resistance can hold out. The bars serve stiff drinks around the water front.

It warms my heart to know that Maryland “leaders” have the state citizens’ best interests at heart though.

Maryland is a goner. Sold to the NWO banksters lock, stock and barrel.

Yet the illegals run free. How can you charge an American for this when others are running around illegally daily. Breaking the laws constantly. The disparity and unfairness of it all is disgusting.

Zorro - I agree that they are using this guy as an example. Encite fear in people to knock them back down. But anger will eventually overcome the fear.

I completely understand, condone and stand behind this American citizens actions, frustrations and position. I how ever threaten mexican government officials via their web sites. Hey, they want questions or comments according to their contact page so I comment all right!

It is not the people that threaten that is the threat it is the ones who take action with no warning that is the threat.
However officials seem to be taking action against this person to send a message. They have yet to figure out with three hundred million upset people nation wide the threat of unrest is very real with the present circumstances of in your face voters attitudes the politicians of almost all levels of government nation wide exhibit. So they think to take action against an individual will intimidate the rest. Will it work? Maybe or maybe not we will see.
But I think they may have opened up a can of worms here because the ones that are a real threat will keep quiet until they are ready to take action.
How much warning did we have before 9/11 or the Oklahoma City bombing?
Stay vigilant people we do not know what will happen but look at Mexico’s present problems and it could very well spread this far.

“The ones that are a real threat will keep quiet until they are ready to take action.”

That might be very correct. They’re the ones to watch out for.

And yea, this guy might be held up as an example. I’ve felt like that many times, but I’ve never stated it to any politician (not yet anyway)….but it would be a very honest opinion because I’m so mad at what they’re doing and the lack of representation I’m getting…but I try to follow a rule of “Whatever I write must not embarrass anyone if it shows up on either my mother or mother-in-laws doorstep in a party situation and she/they are going to read it to her/their audiences.

Now, speaking of hateful comments , how come they haven’t done anything about the illegal alien protesters, MEChA, that Academia Semilla (Marcos Aquilar) clown, La Voz de Aztlan, etc, etc?

#4. Hmm, Eddie B, speaking of carbon taxes, (I wonder if all those chemtrailing planes) leave a big carbon footprint. After all, they must use an incredible amount of fuel and look at all the crap they’re spraying.

I wonder if Al Gore, the environmentalists or the carbon footprint taxers will breathe a word about those chemtrailing planes.
