WRAL

Raleigh, N.C. ? North Carolina’s 58 community colleges will no longer allow illegal immigrants to enroll, officials said Tuesday.

The move follows an advisory letter issued a week ago by the state Attorney General’s Office recommending that community colleges tighten their admissions standards to be more in line with federal laws.

?We asked the Attorney General?s Office for clarification of our present policy and will abide by their advice,? Community College System President R. Scott Ralls said in a statement. ?Until we receive further clarification, we will no longer admit individuals classified as illegal or undocumented immigrants into curriculum degree programs.?

The system last fall began admitting any illegal immigrant who was at least 18 years old and a high school graduate. Gov. Mike Easley said last week that he supported that policy, noting federal law doesn’t clearly outline when illegal immigrants can attend community college.

A spokesman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement also said last week federal law didn’t preclude colleges from admitting illegal immigrants.

The Attorney General’s Office has agreed to ask federal officials to clarify rules regarding illegal immigrants and college enrollment.

Of the nearly 300,000 curriculum students in community colleges statewide, 112 are illegal immigrants, according to the latest state figures. Twenty-seven of the 200,000 students in the University of North Carolina system are illegal immigrants.

All of the illegal immigrants pay out-of-state tuition at both UNC and community college campuses.

Community college officials said illegal immigrants who are already enrolled would be allowed to finish their studies and earn degrees.

All fine and well, great news BUT how about we see this same exact rule applied to every single college in the Nation. Attrition through enforcement does work. A fence works, punishing employers who hire illegal invaders works, it all works and works well. If only every State enforced the simple immigration laws already on the books, the invaders would get the hint not only in N.C but across the Nation. On a sad note how ever, they are all being pushed to southern mexifornia. This could be a blessing in disguise though. Once mexifornias infrastructure gets bankrupted by the illegals and the middle class tax payers start saying “F this” and moving out, then and only then will we see local and State government start asking them to leave and that they are not welcome.

VIVA LA MIGRA AND NORTH CAROLINA!!

like these people don’t use bogus id cards. only 112 in the whole state, plezzzzzzz!

these school administrators do half a$$ jobs to begin with and these schools are just businesses so don’t be fooled that they are gonna do any real checking . they might check a little closer if these people are asking for financial aid, but if they are not asking then forget about it!

Roy Cooper?s decision is applauded for it?s common sense and correct interpretation of immigration law. It?s good to see sanity and the rule of law returned to NC state government. I?m glad to see the NC community college system?s compliant decision, as well.

Grand master Erskine Bowles (University of NC president), a Clintonian to the core, and the People?s Republic of Chapel Hill are another matter. They are entirely wrapped in their bleeding heart academic cocoon having no clue of the more than 80% public opposition to allowing illegal aliens into NC colleges.

Erskine is so disoriented from the fog of his progressive liberal disorder that he believes going to college is another ?job Americans wont? do.?

Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh, right. And there are ONLY 12 million ‘undocumented workers’ in the U.S and none of them are in North Carolina.
