This Is Our Continent, Not Yours

TownHall.com

That last detail was lost on the first wave of protesters two weeks earlier whose highly televised demonstrations were distinguished by the ubiquity of Mexican flags. Poor salesmanship. If you are appealing to Americans to give you the rights and privileges of citizenship, it is not a very good idea to hail Mexico, and an even worse idea to hold up signs such as ‘This is our continent, not yours!’ and ‘Honkies are illegal aliens too.'’

If this were still Mexico’s territory, it would look like Mexico with it’s trash and dumpiness. (Which is what illegals bring to our country by the way.)
It wouldn’t matter where our American border was, they would still try to cross it and get as much money and benefits that they could from the American people.

  2. Sherri Says:

Excellent comment Sam! Mexico has trashed it’s land, and now it wants to come here and trash ours.

  3. Vincent Narodnik Says:

It is also worth noting that in comparison, in 1776, mexico was light years ahead of America in terms of development, They had fully developed heavy industries, ports, trade routes and a more stable currency. After America won her independence, We took off like a rocket. It is wrong to understand that mexico won her independence-rather, it is more accurate to say that mexico became embroiled in a revolution-and once the killing was done, there was an even more ruthless power grab, followed by a vertical descent into the glories of modern day mexico. [ I am only marginally speaking of the architecture here.] None of that is our fault or our doing. The protesters you see on the streets all have bizarre notions programmed into their heads about how Standard Oil this or Dole Pineapple that, but in the end, these excuses are only means to cover their shame. As soon as they face up to their inadequacies, then they might begin to be a neighbor we can be proud of. Step 1; Drop the ‘orgulio’ and look in a mirror, mexico!

“In 1776, Mexico was light years ahead of America in terms of development, They had fully developed heavy industries, ports, trade routes and a more stable currency.” - Vincent Narodnik

That is a very factual statement Vincent and I give you props for bringing it up. When when you say “orgulio”, you probably mean “orgullo” which is the Spanish word for “pride”. Correct?

Also, the protesters who hold up signs such as вЂ?This is our continent, not yours!’ and вЂ?Honkies are illegal aliens too.’’, neither represent the views of the majority of Mexican immigrants, nor can we allow them to be considered the sentiment of Mexican immigrants, legal or otherwise towards white Americans.

The fact remains that the illegal immigration issue is a complicated one. We should not be suprised that fringe elements on both sides of this issue would seize upon this issue and attempt to taint it with racism and historical perspectives that simply don’t apply at this moment.

Lest we want to go down the path that we now see being played out in countries like France and the European union, with its failed immigration policies, that create sub-classes and worker immigrants who can never possibly earn citizenship in their host country. This problem requires sound and reasonable minds to prevail on this complicated issue. The US needs to find workable solution to this problem that diminishes the divisions being created amongst Americans.

As much as people may hate the inclusion of “illegal immigrants” into this country and even more so the fact that they will eventually be granted US Citizenship. The fact remains that it would be next to impossible to forcibly remove the 10 million illegal immigrants from this nation.

So this really is the Mexicans’ country? They are indigenous? Excuuuuuse me, but I beg to differ: the ‘Mexicans’ are a mongrel race of Indians and SPANIARDS (um, who do be coming from EUROPE) and French and a variety of other ethnic groups. There is such thing as an indigenous ‘Mexican.’ Get a clue, indigenous people: go back and fix your pathetic and totalitarian and corrupt country instead of slinking across the border like weak cowards who would prefer to be illegal here than take action there. You want respect? Then stop dropping babies at the cost of the working taxpaying Americans and fix your own house before you try to steal someone else’s. Damn - I’m fed up!! I had some sympathy for the poor illegals, but that has been eradicated by their stupid and unreasonable demands and disgusting behavior. I for one would be willing to take up arms if they try to take M Y COUNTRY away from me after I’ve spent a lifetime working to earn the rights I was born to as a citizen.

  6. Chris Says:

Here is a thought. ALL homo sapiens in the Americas are immigrants.

  7. Bernard Smith Says:

We do not have to “force” 10 million illegal, line cutters from the United States. We just cutoff all of the “freebies” that draw them here, like “free” emergency hospital care, “free” education for their children, income tax “free” salaries (and not only at minimum wage, either), and of course the abuse of the 14th Amendment that is being used by 8 1/2 month women to bear “anchor babies” as American citizens, which provides the rest of the 10 members of the family to come to the United States and, uh, work…..

As soon as these outrageous “free” (i.e. Paid by the AMERICAN TAXPAYERS) benefits are stopped, most of these people will go home. Then we clean up our own welfare mess and give these “jobs that Americans won’t do” to the generational welfare recipients (see New Orleans) and get them off of the taxpayers backs.

Note to the LaRaza radicals: Do NOT judge American men by the wimps and weasels in Washington and the American media. Just as the Muslims sense weakness and cowardice in those “men” and attacked at will for many years and still threaten to attack the United States, the rest of us are armed and will be storing ammunition just in case…

  8. Shooter Says:

Did all of the Mexicans forget that the American Indians were here long before they were. They only got here after the Spaniards came over and killed most indians in North and Central America with weapons and disease. Look at the history on this continent and stop making foolish and Illegal claims. Is this all the Latinos know?

  9. Jim Says:

As impossible as it may sound, there are solutions for 12 millions aliens living here in the US. Take away their sources of income, while starting a gradual deportation process at multiple points along the border. It may takes years, but it will get there in the end with perseverence and patience. It would be a worthwhile effort considering an annual saving of hundreds of billions dollars. This country had done the impossible before, putting a man on the moon.

  10. mojack Says:

It seems to me some wish to actually over throw the United States government especially in the south west. So by there actions and there cries would that not be more then enough reason to place the military on our southern boarder to protect the country from an invasion.
I have no sympathy for these people I have no love for there excuses im sick and tired of some fat windbags selling out Americans for there illegal votes. You don’t like it then get out. Go back home fix your crappy country and stop telling me I have to accept you and your problems.

and yes mexicans are not indiginouse they are spanish/indians who didn’t come into excistance untill after spain landed in mexico and central america.

“It is also worth noting that in comparison, in 1776, mexico was light years ahead of America in terms of development, They had fully developed heavy industries, ports, trade routes and a more stable currency.”

That was also when Mexico was controlled by the Spanish. The country has gone down hill since it gained it’s independence. Much like any African “country” that was once colonized.

  12. Rudolph Says:

Here are some of the circumstances for Mexico’s current situation.

Mexico got it’s independence in 1821 after 11 years of fighting and only because the French were kicking the spainards ass. So in 1821 Mexico was broke and almost all infrastructure destroyed. Texas independence from Mexico came not that further apart; after the US immigrants (who did not want to become mexican citizens even if it was the law) outnumbered the mexicans. The US-Mexico war started because of a dispute with Texas boundaries, The US invaded Mexico and took half of it.

Basically Mexico was broke, weak and internally divided, the US saw the chance and took it. Had it not been the US, another power of the time would have done it, the Spaniards wanted it back, the english sent their ships and made some demands, the French took a shot at it (that’s where the whole 5 de Mayo thing comes from) and placed an austrian emperor for a few years only to pull out because the english were kicking their ass in europe, otherwise you would have french speaking ilegal immigrants.

From the late 1860’s to the early 1900 Mexico had solid growth and was propserous, currency was strong and a good infrastructure was being developed but social inequalities and discontent were growing and in 1910 revolution started, another 10 years of fighting and a few more of power struggling left the country devastated once again with a one party dictatorship for 70 years that did little to advance the country.

Democracy is fairly new in Mexico, and things won’t get fixed overnight , just like the US did not become what it is in 20, 30 or even 100 years of democracy. I read some of the comments that state that mexicans should fight to fix things in Mexico, and a lot of them are doing it right now, but not with guns, because we know by experience that it only makes it worst.

  13. Raul Says:

I am starting to see mexicans in ny ct & mass whats next are they going to say that that also belongs to them if anything this country was taken from the indians not the mexicans.

if anything the mexicans lost what littile they had in war with the usa so if they want it back war for it and then we will all see just how all this its our country shit will stop once we knock mexico back to the stone age.

As an puerto rican american im tired of everyone thinking all hispanics are for immigration lets just go to war with mexico and put in a puppet gov and stop all this boarder crossing. fill the rio grande with gators and the boarder with land mines and if you get across you can stay.

feed america’s children first then after you can feed the world.

  14. Jamin Meji Says:

Have any of you all been to Mexico?
If you had, then you would now that Mexico government is run by whites.
    Vicente Fox is Irish!!!!
7 Spaniard Families build Mexico’s wealth. They alienated the Indian tribes and forced them into slavery. In the present day, these 7 families still own Mexico. The wealth has never been able to trickle down to the poor.
What does this have to do with the U.S.?
It is all linked together because the U.S works with these corrupt governments in destroying quality of life for Indians and U.S citizen.
Little at the top, Many at the bottom.
Corporations backed by US politicians and Latin American politicians destroy Latin American economies.
Exxon, Shell, ect….. Just to name a few.
The reason the U.S . hates Chavez, is because he no longer want to serve corporations but the people of his country.

Illegals that cross into the U.S are Indians and not Meztizo.
While U.S. citizens never complain about how the US destroys economies.
When it starts hitting home, that is when they start whining.

I have heard people say; Why don’t these illegals protest in Mexico?
I have to be honest, I for one moment agreed with you.
Then I thought to myself, the same reason U.S citizens never protested about the war?

  15. BILL Says:

THEY CAN HAVE CALIFORNIA. IT’S A MODERN DAY SODOM AND GOMORAH.THIS WAY WE’LL BE RID OF ALL THESE OBNOXIOUS HOLLYWOOD TYPES. THEY CAN ALSO HAVE TEXAS ON THE CONDITION THEY TAKE GEORGR BUSH WITH THEM. THIS WAY WE’LL BE RID OF HALLIBURTON AND THE ENRON CROWD.

  16. Eddie B. Says:

Okay, so where are the pinatas?

  17. Natasha Says:

    Chris,
Darling…how can the native american indian who is a homosahpien be an immigrant? .HOw can the eskimo, the athebascan, the shawnee, the cherokee, the sioux, the ottawa, the Pueblo, the Dakota, the seminole, the potwatan, Iroquoi be an immigrant?

and to all the peeps who state “THIS WAS OUR LAND FIRST” and you know who you are and what culture you derive from..how can you say that when I give you many examples of whose feet really tread on this great land first.

  18. Mary Jo Miller Says:

I dont know why everyone thinks that the Mexians here illegally are all just “line cutters” that didnt feel like waiting a few years to come to America. They were DESPERATE! They needed to get out of poverty, they needed to feed themselves and their children. Crossing the border illegally is a terrifying thing to do, and nobody in their right mind would do it unless they absolutelly had to. I suggest that everybody here look at both sides of the issue before you start running your mouths.

  19. Brad Says:

    Mary Jo
According to the PEW institute most Mexicans that come here had a job in Mexico prior to their illegal crossing and were not starving. They simply wanted to make more money. If they were starving and unemployed they would not be able to pay the coyotes or physically make the crossing.

    Natasha
All early humans in the Americas were immigrants. They came here from Asia and Europe. They either came across the Bering land bridge or crossed the Pacific Ocean. They were the ancestors of the of North and South American Indians.

  20. Mary Says:

They were DESPERATE! They needed to get out of poverty, they needed to feed themselves and their children.

Well, if they are so desperate, why do they shout hate and racist slogans at the Yanqui taxpayers who pay for their free education, free healthcare and food stamps, and give them jobs and opportunities for a better life, etc.? Why do they shove that crap Mexican flag in our faces, and scream Viva La Raza, if Mexico as a country has treated them so badly?

You wanna be American, then ACT LIKE AN AMERICAN, not a Fifth Columnist LaRaza racist hate-monger.

  21. Mary Jo Miller Says:

    Mary,
it is a small minority that is involved in this La Raza thing, despite the upplaying by this website. Most immigrants here love America. In the first few public protests they made the mistake of waiving the Mexican flag as a display of pride for their people, not as a show of arrogance or anything, and in the most recent protests a majority have learned and have switched to the American flag.
    Brad,
I must be misinformed, but I have worked in many restaurants with many illegal immigrants, and an overwhelming majority have told me that they were living in poverty and wondering from where they were getting next month’s paycheck. And I repeat that they risk their lives when they cross the border, it is terrifying. I have never met an immigrant that has payed a coyote.
I wonder what you would do if you were in their situation. I’d be a little more humble.

  22. todd Says:

Mary Jo - It would be virtually impossible for someone to walk for days across the desert into the US without a coyote. The coyote knows the pathes and the terrain like the back of their hand, that is how they get across. Without a coyote, you die. The reason they started carrying the American flag is because the ORGANIZERS gave them the flags and told them to carry them and not the mexican flags. The people organizing those rallys were La Raza type groups, communists, marxists, anarchists, etc. So shut the hell up with your multi-cult bullshit.

  23. Ronald B. Raff Says:

All of us need to immediately start stocking up on arms and ammunition. We need to be prepared for the day the cowards in DC sell out our sovereignty to a bunch of marxist militants who will destroy our democracy.
One revolution made us free, another one will keep us free!
To all you cowards in Washington: Build the wall NOW!!!!!!!!

  24. MARLY Says:

i work with the mexican people, they are very ANGRY and believe me they ARE networking…i work in nyc restaurants and i am mostly always the only american. so i see it and hear it.

Hi, I’m a Mexican woman and I finally became legal after waiting for 1 year and six months and spending almost 11 hundred dollars. And I agree with your comments that I just read. I felt bad for the illegal people “before” but I really don’t like what they are doing now. I can understand that they need to work, but now they are demanding benefits (things that they shouldn’t have in the first place). I know my country, and I wouldn’t like this country to be like Mexico. But seems like they don’t get it. They just want the rights to be here without waiting on line. I think, they should try to change Mexico instead of demanding amnisty here. If they get amnisty, What does that show to people who are waiting on lines and paying money to come here legally? A friend of mine lives in Monterrey and in one point she was here illegally but decided to go back to her country and become legal, so she would have rigths. But because she was here illegally, the consulate punished her with not to be able to enter the U.S. for 10 years. After the 10 years of her punishment, she would be able to start to process the paper work. So, how does this work? Should everyone brake the law and get papers? Is it right to come here illegally and then demand rights? Americans, DO SOMETHING!!
