People from all over Los Angeles were on hand to show their support or disdain for the City Council’s decision to be the first city in the nation to enforce immigration laws using local police.

The first video is of Benito Acosta from the Tonantzin Collective getting arrested. After the police escort him outside, a crazy woman bursts out singing “We Shall Overcome!”

Daily Pilot

?He has a history of disrupting our meetings,? Mayor Mansoor said. ?I made it clear from the beginning that disruptions would not be allowed as it interferes with the right of other people to speak and it delays our meetings.?

At the Dec. 6 council meeting, before the council voted on the immigration enforcement plan and during public comment, Tezcalipoca called Mansoor ?a ? [expletive] racist pig? and was escorted out of the meeting by police.

Here is a clip from an ABC Local News station. Benito is acting like a wild man and the police are dragging him inside city hall.

I saw a few familiar faces among the open border radicals but the violent anarchists that sometimes show up were not present. Many of these people belong to a group called the Tonantzin Collective. Few of them could actually speak English so you can draw your own conclusions as to their immigration status. This is the woman at the end of the last clip that was screaming that Mayor Mansoor is a racist.

Here is a light translation from the above clip.

Teacher/Professor:

What you are seeing, what is happening inside is the North American politics against our race. What you are seeing outside are people who are at the point of an iceberg because of these attitudes. He didn?t want us to have our assembly. He needs to resign and both races ? Latino and Norte Americano need to unite to make a tsunami.

Woman:

Just like the Minutemen who are taking down license plates, we need to do the same thing and turn it around because the best of them (Minutemen) have DUIs, don?t pay child support, and are criminals.

After this she took a collection to finance a lawyer so he can be defended, ?according to American justice.?

A light translation from the above clip:

Professor:

I am speaking about all of Latin America.

Student:

The Zapatistas (EZLN) are struggling against the capitalists of Mexico and the United States.

Professor:

In all of the countries, people are struggling for the peoples? cause and the causes [idiomatic expression: dando espalda] are being stabbed in the back by the United States because of attitudes like this. It is a slap in the face to all, and the United States doesn?t deserve respect because of this.

Student:

All of the countries have sold out to the United States.

Bearded Man:

We are the majority in the United States. We didn?t come here to take jobs of those who have them the Norte Americanos. We make the riches for the country. We leave Mexico and Vicente Fox is responsible ? guilty with the United States government.

[Inference of speeches: This is part of the wider struggle in Latin America for the concerns of the people.]

Crowd Chanting:

A united people can?t ever be defeated.

There was a break in the meeting after the arrest. Captain Ron Smith spoke with the crowd of illegal aliens and tried to calm them down. A woman from a Spanish news channel acted as a translator.

Mayor Allan Mansoor

I did an interview with the Mayor the morning of the City Council meeting. He’s a very intelligent, soft spoken, mild mannered person. He’s also a Deputy Sheriff so I would imagine he can get tough when it’s called for. I asked him if he had thoughts of running for a higher political office and he lit up like a Christmas tree but insisted that he was happy in his current position with the OC Sheriff and planned on running for City Council again. We’ll see. He’s a young guy and he’s definitely a leader unlike those you commonly find in local government. We need more men like Mayor Allan Mansoor.

The Mayor talks about Costa Mesa becoming the first city in the country to enforce immigration laws with its police force.

The Meeting

The City Council meeting was set for 6pm. At 4pm opposing groups setup outside the Costa Mesa City Hall.

More people from both sides showed up after dark.

The Good Guys

We had some great speakers giving their support to the Mayor and the City Council.

There is some controversy among the open border crowd that the Mayor allowed Jim Gilchrist’s supporters to stand up but he would not let Benito’s supporters stand. The Mayor clearly interrupts Gilchrist and the Minutemen are seated immediately. In fact there was a miscommunication and Gilchrist was asking them to stand at the end of his speech, not right then and there. After he spoke they remained seated and gave no applause which was at the request of the Mayor for all participants and speakers. The Mayor gave no favorable treatment to those who oppose illegal immigration.

The Bad Guys

My favorite of the open border crowd was a high school kid who said that our side was so old that we weren’t going to be around for much longer so who cares what we say!

This woman said she came all the way from Chicago because of what she saw on the television. She came all the way here to speak and then when she got up to the podium she didn’t have a damn thing to say. She couldn’t even speak into the microphone so you can barely hear her.
